One of my friends sent me a classic email today. Rather than forwarding on to hundreds of friends - I decided to post it here, customize the comments and highlight the wedding shoes of the day. No, probably the wedding shoes of the year! I am glad that this couple’s pictures made it on the WWW so that we could all share in the joy of this occasion - but most of all admire their shoes!
Excellent color coordination gentlemen — red ties, black ties no ties and all black shoes….oh what…oops!
White runners for the wedding $56.00

New Garage Door for the perfect wedding photo back-drop: $1195.00 (included the 5-horse motor and smoked glass windows.)

Grand display of the wedding shoes of the year: PRICELESS! (Hey - at least she shaved!)

Congratulations from the shoes of the day y’all!
Enjoy the wedding shoes of the day!

I just found another great site, Soles4Souls.org. In a nut-sole here is what they do: “We have a simple mission: to impact as many lives as possible with the gift of shoes. We are partnering with charities and governments around the world to provide a basic (yet indispensable) gift that most of us take for granted. You can help us in many ways: donating your own shoes, donating cash for freight, hosting a shoe drive, or even donating your time as a volunteer. As shoe industry professionals, we are working hard to use the resources at our disposal to make a difference — but we need your help (and your shoes) to reach out to the world.”
The shoes of the day is about saving your soles, and this is one simple way to begin. Thanks Soles4Souls.
Don’t take your shoes for granted.

If there is one place where I want to keep my shoes on, it is at the airport — especially through airport security. At the Seattle airport a few years ago, I was rushing to get to my plane, and forgot to take my shoes off before passing through the security gates. As I approached the the security guard he just starred at my shoes and then pointed at them and said “Sir, please remove your shoes.” I thought I don’t have anything funny in these shoes — so I proceeded, elevated my shoulders and carefully walked through. The alarm didn’t sound, but still the security guard sent me for the full scan. And I had to take off my shoes and they ran them through the x-ray machine.
I just located some great news by a writer from wired magazine, Charley Sorrel. He writes “according to Wikipedia T-Rays, or Terahertz Radiation, can “pass through clothing, paper, cardboard, wood, masonry, plastic and ceramics.” You can now add shoes to that list. Boffins at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Lab have come up with a smaller and cheaper way to generate the radiation, which can be used as a safe alternative to X-Rays (T-Rays are non-ionizing). This means that airports could be equipped with yet more “security” machines, and you, the passenger (read: suspect) will get to keep your shoes on.” I love technology.
So if you want to keep your shoes on, ask for the new T-Ray Scanner or travel to Mexico, you don’t have to remove your shoes there — although they may make you remove your sombrero.

Attention people of New Jersey: Steve Madden wants to talk with you in person! This is your chance to have a “proper conversation” with him. He was quoted as saying “The art of conversation is dying,” he explained. “All those things that force you not to go meet with other people is killing conversation.” Between designing shoes and cruising through his stores, he likes to sit and watch and talk with his customers. “The customers think I’m strange,” he said. “They’re thinking, ‘What is this 50-year-old man doing asking me about my shoes?’ ”
Here are the fast facts for meeting Mr. Madden, the 49 year old shoe-guru.
WHAT: Personal appearance by Steve Madden.
WHERE: BP Shoes at Nordstrom, Westfield Garden State Plaza, Paramus North Jersey. 201-843-1122 for more information.
WHEN: 2 p.m. Saturday November 17, 2007
HOW MUCH: Free.
WHAT’S MORE : Autographs and shoe raffle!
MADDENS IDEAL CUSTOMER: The “millennials” — women born after 1980.
MADDENS TOP SHOE STORE: The internet.
You are encouraged to bring questions, comments and things to be signed. If I were you, I would take a pair of crocs and see if he would sign the soles.
Shoes of the day: sole-signed shoes from Steve Madden. We dont have a picture yet. But, if you get his Herby Hancock on a pair of your shoes, send us a picture and your story may even appear here!

Corporate responsibility has a new color: green. The green thinkers at Nike say “every year, across the globe, millions of pairs of athletic shoes end up in landfills or are disposed of in some other way. That’s a lot of shoes going to waste that contain valuable materials that could be re-used if a degree of imagination, some ingenious engineering and a persistent pursuit of the principles of sustainability were to be applied.” I can’t wait to see the next shoe car…now that would be some ingenious engineering.
Shoes of the day is thinking green, so recycle your old pair today.

And Action.
Now you can cook your own shoes! To make the best shoes of the day, follow along closely.
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
2 Toebox-z’s or substitute for plural “toeboxi”
2 Vamps
2 or more Eyelets
2 soles
2 tongues. Cow tongue may taste better. Tenderize to your own liking.
1/2 cup diced grilled real soul
2 Insoles
2 Outsoles
2 Midsoles
2 Heel Counters
4 Toplines
1/4 Quarter quarters
1/4 cup chopped red bell Upper or pepper — you choose, after all these are your shoes.

DIRECTIONS:
- Pam the pan
- Crank heat on range top to med-high.
- Place shoe pieces in a shallow baking pan, skin side up. Combine the melted butter or margarine, honey, mustard, salt and curry powder and pour the mixture over the sole. Cook on the range (or home on the range) for 1 1/4 hours (75 minutes), basting every 15 minutes with pan drippings, until the shoe is nicely browned and tender and the juices run clear, or until all ingredients are melted into one whole. Grab chopsticks, soy sauce and enjoy.
- For best results, test temperature first on your friend’s shoes.

Your final product should look like something like this.* We traveled to SOHO in NYC to the puma shoe store to see the top BBQ shoe chefs and to capture these pictures for your viewing pleasure, Enjoy. See cooking can be fun! Ummm, smells so good!
Sandy, don’t forget the nutter-butter to grease the pan!
*results may vary based on a number of factors. Shoesoftheday.com does not recommend you try this at home. Visit a puma store or Get great brand name shoes at Zappos.com!

We just received this email from Steve & Berry’s. Shoesoftheday.com has been overwhelmed with requests to find the best place to purchase the Starbury shoes. It appears that they only offer them at Steve & Berry’s physical stores. “Sorry online, we’re closed!” HELLO! It’s 2007, don’t you think we would be able to buy these shoes online? We will keep you posted as soon as we find out where/when they will be available for online purchase. For now enjoy the response the shoesoftheday.com received.
“Thank you for your interest in the Starbury Collection, the new line of
lifestyle and athletic clothes and sneakers created by NBA star Stephon
Marbury and available only at Steve & Barry’s stores across the country. We
are excited to join Steph in his mission to provide quality apparel at
affordable prices.
Unfortunately, at this time we do not offer online shopping or mail
ordering. However, demand has been so overwhelming for the Starbury
Collection that we are working diligently to bring online shopping to those
customers across the country that do not yet live near a Steve & Barry’s
location. Please check www.steveandbarrys.com and www.starbury.com
periodically for updates.
Our company thrives because of customers like you. Thank you for taking
the time to write us. We truly appreciate your business and hope to see
you in one of our stores soon!
With Regards,
Arzan.”
Our intuition tells us that they would thrive even more if they could provide an online store to buy these! Then we thought, shipping may cost more than the shoes themselves…free shipping just won’t work. So now wait just a second here - the $15 shoes become $30!? Thriving?

LeBron stepped out on the hardwood in his new shoes yesterday, the new Nike Zoom LeBron 5. Get this; the shoes feature a map of the city of Akron, Ohio on the sole and the inside of the tongue — just in case you need a second reference point. The legend? Well, you will find the legend in the next pair of Air Jordans. You will now need both pairs to effectively navigate the city of Akron. It’s brilliant Nike!
I remember getting “mixed-up-3rd-trailer-on-the-left-far-see-done-gone-too-far” directions in the south, man if only I had a pair of shoes with a map! For the asking retail price I could have a fabulous Rand Mcnally atlas, with more cities than Akron, and roughly 9 pairs of Starburys. They must really be pressing for additional features to move these expensive shoes, which were just conveniently lowered in price. Oh, don’t cry for me Akron-tina, he will be okay - he still has his 7 year, 90 million dollar endorsement.
What’s next the LeBron 6: a laces-view camera with social networking capabilities and a High School diploma? Now you can see his fancy footwork at each game and conveniently share your homework with all your friends.
The shoes hit store shelves November 15 at a cost of $140 a pair. A black and red pair goes on sale December 13. Personally, I would rather have 10 pairs of Starburys than one pair of these. What about a white pair? Sorry, I couldn’t resist. The shoes of the day: Nike Zoom LeBron 5

So in case you are lost in Akron, OH just take off your shoes, they will help you find your way home. Nike, please sell them with a compass too — a moral compass.
