One of my favorite pairs of shoes ever is a pair of Ferragamos I found in a DI. Cognac leather, a true stack heel, I paid 4 bucks for a $400 pair. I love them.

My favorite shoes were a $225 pair by an Italian maker I have never been able to track down. I found the pair on a clearance rack at the then ZCMI for $25. They were the only pair left and a perfect fit. An executive dress, double monk strap, amber tan, and extraordinarily comfortable dress shoe. I could dress them up with my super 100’s suits, or down with my a&f jeans. Simply fabulous. Unfortunately, with old age my foot began to spatulate (yes, I just said “spatulate”–look it up), and eventually gave them away. Some have wondered, including myself, if I gave them to the wrong person.
